Hay truck fire contained at Sherlock
Plus police report a Murray Bridge woman for driving while disqualified.
A hay truck has been badly damaged after a fire broke out on board at Sherlock on Wednesday morning.
Three Country Fire Service crews, totalling about 15 firefighters, responded to the truck fire at a property on Bore Road around 11.15am.
They were able to keep the blaze from spreading from the truck into surrounding scrub and farmland, and spent about three hours spreading out the truck’s load of hay to make sure the danger had passed.
SA Police assisted at the scene.
The fire was believed to have been started by the truck’s exhaust.
It caused an estimated $43,000 worth of damage to the truck’s passenger side and undercarriage.
Pinged for driving while disqualified
Meanwhile, Murray Bridge traffic police have picked up just one driver for an alleged offence over the weekend.
They stopped a red Toyota Corolla on Gail Crescent on Saturday and allegedly found that its driver, a 54-year-old local woman, had been disqualified from driving.
Officers reported her for driving while disqualified and impounded the car.
She will face the charge at Murray Bridge Magistrates Court.
